Dr. Jaime Gutierrez-Ang earned his master of arts in teaching English as a second language from the Philippine Normal University (Manila) and a second master's degree in mass communication at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines where in 2001, he obtained his doctoral degree in educational management, currently a PhD in english literature is being pursued with great enthusiasm.
He is a recipient of both national and international awards. Currently he is the chairman and president emeritus of gawad tanglaw -- an academic-based award giving body for media and arts.

The Contemporary World is an outcomes-based designed instructional reading material and text manual for the 21st century Filipino university student to help him/her understand the impact of globalization in the country and in the world. Specifically, the learners are expected to: Discourse globalization; make a stand on global economic integration; describe global market integration in the 21st century; identify the attributes of a global citizen; understand the nature of digital divide; differentiate internationalism from globalism; and participate in the outcomes-based activities on the lectures delivered in the class.
