520 | _aThe B.S. Certificate Program in Chemistry at the University of San Carlos: its assessment and impact on teaching performance. Moreno, Norma C. M.A.T. Chemistry. University of San Carlos, 1994. 118 pp. Adviser: Montana Saniel, Ph. D. This study aimed to assess the B.S. Certificate Program in Chemistry at the University of San Carlos through its Regional Science Teaching Center (RSTC). It also attempted to determine the ways of improving the program in terms of participants, trainers, program content, delivery scheme, and program management. The proposed guidelines for the improved program was based on the results of the survey involving eighty-two (82) teacher-participants of the B.S. Certificate Program in Chemistry from 1985 to 1991. The descriptive survey method was used. Items which helped identify the program?s strengths and weaknesses were included in the questionnaire administered to the teacher-participants. To determine the extent to which the program has improve the teacher-participants? competencies, school principals and/or science coordinators were asked to answer another set of questionnaire. Results showed that the program greatly helped in improving the different aspect in the teacher-participants? Chemistry teaching. The respective principals/science coordinators confirmed the improved level of teaching competencies of the teacher-participants. The overall results of the study indicated that the program was effective. Guidelines were proposed in order to correct the perceived weaknesses in the program. | ||
